ROCKINGHAM – As part of the ongoing mission of the Richmond Observer to provide expansive coverage of current events, we offer the following news release from State Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin:

My heart aches for our fellow North Carolinians whose lives were taken and the thousands more whose homes were destroyed. I hope you and your family are safe.

Florence brought with her a catastrophic amount of wind and water that battered our communities from the mountains to the coast — and in many parts of the state, we’re still not out of the clear.

I cannot thank our first responders and volunteers enough who not only helped evacuate and rescue our neighbors but now are working to help them recover.

Right now, one of the best ways for you to help is to make sure the communities impacted by Florence’s destruction have the resources they need. They are counting on us.

North Carolinians helping North Carolinians. Those are our values. Here are two ways you can help right now:

1.     Share readync.org on social media to let your friends and family know how to get assistance if they were impacted by Hurricane Florence.

2.     Donate to the NC Disaster Relief Fund to help with immediate unmet needs of those recovering from Hurricane Florence.

Thank you for lending a helping hand.

Wayne Goodwin

Chairman, NC Democratic Party
