RALEIGH – NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin released the following statement on International Workers Day 2018:

“Today, North Carolina Democrats celebrate the contributions of North Carolina workers to our state and renew our call for expanded rights that our workers need and deserve.

All North Carolinians deserve a living wage, basic rights, and to feel safe and valued at their workplace each day.

The labor movement is directly responsible for what many take for granted today – safer workplaces, overtime pay, the eight hour work day, retirement benefits, minimum wage, and better working conditions.

While the Trump administration and North Carolina Republicans threaten economic opportunity and workplace equality, North Carolina Democrats are proud to reaffirm our commitment to justice for all of our state’s working people, from the mountains to the coast.”
