ROCKINGHAM – The summer sun may be setting, but Rockin’ Tan has Richmond County covered.
Back in April, JC’s Tanning Salon on Wiregrass Road in Rockingham shut down and left the building for sale. Upon discovering this, Dan and Ronda Ruperd called Jimmy Capps for a tour of the facility. Instantly, their family fell in love.
Ronda and her daughter, Elizabeth Campos, along with her daughter-in-law, Brittany Ruperd, loved the idea of renovating the space and making it their own. In June, when the salon officially became their own, the girls did just that.
“We are a very close-knit family, so it was an easy decision to purchase a place where we had the opportunity to work together,” Brittany Ruperd said when talking about purchasing and renovating the space. “We also wanted to be able to create a business that provided phenomenal service to the members of Richmond County.”
The trio began by taking out the carpet and furniture to refinish and stain the floor. Then they spruced up the place by adding new paint. However, the floors and walls are not the only things they freshened up.
The family bought three new tanning beds, along with new bulbs for all existing beds. The salon now has a total of nine beds, including seven tanning beds and two red-light beds.
The red-light beds do not give off ultraviolet light, which is the type of light that tans the skin. This means there is no risk of overexposure. It is a proven method by NASA to rejuvenate the skin and to provide whole body treatments such as reducing the appearance of stretch marks, speeding up the healing of acne, collagen repair, stimulate regrowth of hair, and much more.
The owners of Rockin’ Tan feel as though red light therapy is something the citizens of Richmond County need. They note that providing this service, which has scientifically proven to relax, repair, and rejuvenate the whole body, is a benefit to the hardworking people of Richmond County.
Rockin’ Tan hopes that they have created a cozy and welcoming environment for people to come and relax after a long day.
“We’re excited to bring this business to our community,” Brittany Ruperd said. “We cannot wait to watch our dreams and business grow that would not have been possible without the love and support of family.”
Rockin’ Tan is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This week, they are offering 50 percent off all tanning packages. Stop by their location at 490 Wiregrass Road, Rockingham, or call (910) 557-5319.
