Nurse practitioner to Join FirstHealth Family Medicine in Ellerbe

ELLERBE — Certified family nurse practitioner Sharon Saunders will join Bo Kopynec, M.D., and Bridget Thompson, PA-C, at FirstHealth Family Medicine in Ellerbe on July 8, 2019.

“Ellerbe is a wonderful town with some of the greatest people,” says Saunders. “I look forward to being a part of the remarkable team at FirstHealth.”

Saunders earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from Duke University where she also completed a family nurse practitioner post master’s certificate program.

Prior to joining FirstHealth, Saunders worked as a nurse practitioner specializing in wound and vascular care. She has seen first-hand the damage that can be caused by chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension.

“Personally and professionally, I have a special interest in the prevention of chronic wounds and arterial disease,” says Saunders. “It is my desire to work with my patients to promote disease prevention and wellness, and to help them achieve a desirable level of health.”
