RALEIGH — Gerrymandering is a practice that attempts to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries to create partisan-advantaged districts.

Representative Garland E. Pierce will be on the popular show called VICE on HBO Vice, which is a documentary TV series. The show will be airing a story focusing on gerrymandering. The story will feature North Carolina House District 48 (Hoke, Richmond, Robeson and Scotland Counties), which is Representative Garland Pierce’s district.

The district that Representative Pierce represents has one of the most bizarre district lines. Viewers of the program will get to observe Representative Pierce out in the district interacting with his constituents. The show will air on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, on HBO at 7:30 p.m., and again at 11 p.m. Representative Pierce’s office encourages people to take the time to watch this special because, “knowledge is power.”

“I hope that many (constituents) will take advantage of this opportunity to watch this TV special on this important issue,” Representative Pierce said.
