ROCKINGHAM— Taking your dog or puppy to the Dog Days of Summer wash at the Richmond County Animal Shelter may help your furry friend, as well as other dogs who may need the services Richmond County Animal Advocates provide.

The dog wash event will be held from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, and will feature a bake sale, tie-dye station, Kona Ice truck, and a photo-booth for pictures with dogs available for adoption. Donated items will also be available for auction.

For many animals, this time of year can be devastating. Some families choose to surrender their pets to the shelter rather than getting a pet-sitter or even boarding while away. Director of Richmond County Animal Advocates Allison Story Sweatt wants everyone to be aware of how urgent the situation is.

“We want people to get in there, see the available animals and meet our staff, because I want each of them to go to a home where they can be cared for by loving families,” said Sweatt.

If you would like to have your dog washed, you must provide proof of rabies vaccination. All proceeds benefit the Richmond County Animal Advocates.
