ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Health Department reported Tuesday morning that another resident has passed away with the coronavirus.
According to a press release, the department was notified late Monday that the unnamed individual died in a local hospital.
This makes the fifth death for the month of November. The Health Department reported 15 deaths occurred in October.
According to the Health Department, 28 have passed away in a hospital, eight have died in another healthcare setting and three have died outside of a health setting.
All patients have been between the ages of 31 and 95: 14 have been 80 or older; 11 have been in their 70s; 10 in their 60s; three in their 50s; and one who was 31.
The race and gender breakdown is as follows: six African American females, five African American males, two American Indian males, 16 Caucasian females and 10 Caucasian males.
It is not known if any of the patients had underlying conditions.
As of Nov. 13, there were 5,039 COVID-related deaths in the state, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. Johns Hopkins University reports (as of 9 a.m. Nov. 24) there have been 257,707 COVID-related deaths in the U.S. and 1,399,373 globally.
Richmond County has had 310 cases so far this month and 1,759 total.
The numbers for Thursday have not yet been released on either the state or local level.
