ROCKINGHAM — Three more have recovered from the coronavirus as more test positive, bringing Richmond County’s case count closer to 100.
The Richmond County Health Department reported seven new cases of COVID-19 in its update on Wednesday with the total number rising to 98.
Richmond County has the highest number of all surrounding counties with the exception of Moore, which is now up to 162 confirmed cases, according to that health department.
Health officials in Richmond County say that the number of those under the age of 18 who have tested positive has risen to five.
There are also 11 cases in the 19-30 age group; 10 who are 31-40; 24 who are 41-50; 28 who are 51-64; and 20 who are 65 or older.
Three patients are hospitalized and 55 are under home isolation.
Another three patients have also recovered, bringing that total to 38. To qualify as being recovered, a patient has to go 10 days without showing symptoms and three days without a fever, according to Health and Human Services Director Dr. Tommy Jarrell.
Wednesday’s map from the Health Department shows the number of cases for each ZIP code as well as the number of recoveries.
On Tuesday, the Health Department reported that 763 residents have been tested for COVID-19 since testing began, with 100 of those being tested since May 5.
As of that report, 656 tests have returned negative results.
Across the state, 210,457 North Carolinans have been tested, with 15,816 testing positive, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
There have been 957 deaths attributed to the coronavirus in the Tar Heel State, including two in Richmond County.
The state estimates that 9,115 patients have recovered, according to a report issued on Monday afternoon.
