RICHMOND COUNTY – The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a Federally-funded program that provides for a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills.
Households containing a person aged 60 or older, or an individual receiving disability benefits and services through the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services, are eligible to apply for assistance from December 1 to the 31.
All other households may apply from Jan. 1, 2018 through March 31, 2018, or until funds are exhausted.
Applications for the above will be taken at the Richmond County Social Services building, and also at the listed sites:
Monday, December 4: East Rockingham Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday, December 5: Ellerbe Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, December 6: East Rockingham Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Monday, December 11: Ellerbe Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Monday, December 18: Hamlet Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday, December 19: Hamlet Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday, December 21: Dobbin Heights from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A household that applies must have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria, meet an income test, have reserves at or below $2,250, and be responsible for its heating bills.
