ROCKINGHAM — Youngsters from Richmond County will have an opportunity to get an up-close glimpse of fire trucks and other emergency vehicles at a back-school-event this weekend.

The Touch a Truck event — slated for 6- 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Richmond County Airport — is a collaboration between several first-responder agencies and associated with National Night Out.

Vehicles will be on display from various agencies, including the East Rockingham Volunteer Fire Department, Hamlet Fire and Rescue, Cordova Fire and Rescue, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the N.C. Forest Service.
