Richmond County gun theft results in 3 defendants charged

ROCKINGHAM — Three people are facing charges related to the same stolen gun.

According to warrants, 17-year-old Christian Elijah Sturdivant broke into a safe in a building on Willow Road on July 17 and stole three firearms, a green duffle bag, eight magazines and various ammunition.

The stolen weapons were a SCCY 9mm pistol, an H & R shotgun and a .40-caliber Glock 23, warrants show.

Within the next two days, warrants allege the Glock wound up in the hands of 21-year-old Tyrek Antwon Ratliff, of Substation Road.

Sturdivant is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, safecracking, possession of a stolen firearm, receiving stolen goods or property, and conspiracy to commit felony larceny, all felonies.

Rainece Holloway is listed as a co-conspirator and is also charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny, online court records show.

Ratliff is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and receiving stolen goods or property.

Ratliff and Sturdivant were both booked into the Richmond County Jail on July 19 and are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15, Holloway on Aug. 12. Sturdivant is being held on a $12,500 secured bond. Since he is a minor, the jail would not release his mug shot.

Holloway was never booked.

Online court records show Ratliff is also facing a probation violation and is being held under a combined $30,000 secured bond.

According to court records, Ratliff plead guility May 14 to conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to the robbery and murder of a restaurant cook in 2016. Charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon were dismissed.

He received a 25-42 month suspended sentence.

The same day, Ratliff was also convicted of breaking and entering, with charges of larceny after breaking and entering and safecracking being dismissed. He was ordered to pay $322.50 in court costs and $1,500 in restitution and was put on probation for that case, as well.

Online records show neither Sturdivant nor Holloway has any prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
