Richmond County Health Department hosting Women’s Health Summit

HAMLET — The Richmond County Health Department will host its second annual Women’s Health Summit on Thursday, April 20, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium, located at 1042 W. Hamlet Ave. in Hamlet.

This free event is open to the public and will include interactive demonstrations, information booths, vendors, games, prizes, and lunch.

A host of vendors will offer information on personal safety, mental health, domestic violence, child and infant safety, maternal health, breastfeeding, tobacco dependence, alcohol and drug substance abuse, Head Start information, and more.

Staff from NC Works will be on site to assist with job search. Learn about North Carolina’s Safe Surrender Law, which allows a parent to surrender a newborn up to seven days old to a responsible adult without the parent providing his or her name. Safe Surrender is legal and aims to prevent newborns from being hurt or abandoned.

The Richmond County Health Department is committed to sponsoring ongoing programs geared toward enhancing and improving women’s health. Many of the programs can be found on the Richmond County website.
