Richmond County man accused of engaging in sexual acts with minors

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with felony sex crimes for alleged acts with children.

According to warrants, 50-year-old Bobby Griffin tried to engage in intercourse with a child under the age of 13. He is also accused of committing “lewd and lascivious acts” on two other children under the age of 16.

Griffin was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of attempted statutory rape by an adult.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held under a $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court May 2.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Griffin was convicted of misdemeanor fraud in 1994 and two counts of misdemeanor larceny in 2007.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
