Richmond County man accused of skipping court, having more drugs

ROCKINGHAM — A man out on bond facing more than a dozen drug charges was allegedly caught with more drugs and failed to show up in court.

According to a magistrate’s order, 26-year-old Christian Gage Croke, of Country Canyon Drive, was in possession of three Xanax pills, three Suboxone strips, an unspecified amount of marijuana and a crack pipe on Aug. 16 — exactly two months after being arrested on meth and cocaine charges.

Court documents show that Croke is currently on probation, out on bond on pending charges and failed to appear in court.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Croke was given a 24-month suspended sentence in November following a conviction of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance.

From his most recent arrest, Croke is charged with one felony count of possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance and one misdemeanor count each of simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Richmond County Jail records show he also faces two counts of failure to appear on a felony.

Croke remains in jail under a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 29.

Online court records show he has multiple pending charges from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Rockingham Police Department: two counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses, possessing or receiving stolen property, trafficking opium or heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. All but the latter are felonies.

Croke is also facing four counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; one felony count each of possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine; and one misdemeanor count of possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana.

His court date on some of those charges is also Aug. 29. He has an appearance for the others on Sept. 30.

Croke also has prior misdemeanor convictions of simple assault (2014) and breaking and entering (2012), according to state records.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
