Richmond County man facing 12 child pornography charges

ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County first responder is facing a dozen charges for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to warrants, Kenneth Glenn Hawkins, of Bailey Street, had image files of unknown females ranging from ages 8 to 14 displaying their genitals in a “lewd and lascivious manner” and some engaged in sexual activity with adult males.

The warrants, taken out by investigators with the Rockingham Police Department, were issued May 15 and served the following day.

Hawkins is charged with 12 felony counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was released on a $250,000 unsecured bond.

It is unclear if the pictured girls are local, but a release order forbids Hawkins from making contact with them.

Court records show Hawkins had an appearance Thursday and his case has been continued until June 27.

He is listed as a fireman with Cordova Fire and Rescue on the department’s website, but Chief Jeremy Chance said Thursday he has not been with the department for several months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
