ROCKINGHAM — At least three local restaurants are adapting to social distancing to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Pattan’s Downtown Grille announced Monday evening that it would re-open on Tuesday, but only for take-out orders.

“The restaurant will not be available for dine-in guests,” reads a social media post. “Take-out orders are available for curbside pickup if you do not want to get out of your car.”

Those pickups will be delivered on the back side of the building.

Two other eateries, the Holiday Restaurant and Caddy’s Chill and Grill, are also adding curbside pickup for those who don’t want to go in, but will also still have dining inside.

“We will be open and operating under normal business hours under the guidelines and suggestions set forth by the Health Department during this time,” according to Facebook post by the Holiday.

LIkewise, Hudson Brothers Deli Manager Robin Roberts said her establishment would be open until otherwise directed by the Health Department.

Double Vision is voluntarily remaining closed during the pandemic.

An executive order issued by Gov. Roy Cooper on Saturday mandates mass gathering limits to 100 people. That order did not include restaurants and bars.

On Sunday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the limit be kept to 50, which is also the current recommendation by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. That limit extends to church services and funerals.

President Donald Trump on Monday suggested that crowds stay no higher than 10.

Around a dozen states have ordered restaurants and bars to close.
