HAMLET — Richmond County Schools announced that there will be no school for students on Friday.
The district said the closure was due to “the potential for high winds and tornadoes” associated with Hurricane Helene.
According to the National Weather Service, Richmond County is expected to see winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.
The area will be under a flood watch from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday and a wind advisory from midnight until 6 p.m.
