Richmond County Schools on 2-hour delay, RCC on regular schedule for Friday

HAMLET — Students should be operating on a mostly normal schedule Friday after Hurricane Dorian passes off the coast.

Richmond County Schools will be operating on a two-delay, according to an email from Public Information Officer Jasmine Hager.

“This will allow our transportation department the opportunity to assess road conditions during daylight hours to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff,” she said. “We will continue to monitor weather conditions and update you on any changes to our schedule.”

Richmond Community College announced it will be on a regular schedule.

Both the school system and college cancelled classes for Thursday, though most of the rain and wind isn’t expected until nightfall as the Category 2 storm continues northward.
