Richmond Observer introducing online local sports network

ROCKINGHAM — In an effort to expand coverage of local sports, the Richmond Observer announces the creation of the RO Sports Network, premiering later this month.

ROSN will be headed by Executive Producer Russell Parker with featured commentary being led by on-air talent, Matt Harrelson.

As the executive producer of the RO, Parker has produced “LIVE at 5” since its first episode in August 2017 and “The RO Sports Show” since February 2018.

Harrelson has been lead anchor for “LIVE at 5,” “The RO Sports Show” and “Good Morning Sandhills” for more than a year. Harrelson has also written news, features and sports stories for the RO.

Both Parker and Harrelson have experience playing disc golf and have provided commentary together for two Sandhills Wrestling Alliance shows featured on “The RO Sports Show.”

The online sports network will debut April 28 with post-production coverage of the Hinson Lake Disc Golf Tournament hosted by the Richmond Young Professionals.

ROSN will have a feature card of three players participating in the solo round of the fundraising tournament. The players will be recorded as they tackle all 18 holes and the video will be edited with graphics and commentary.

ROSN’s coverage of the Hinson Lake Disc Golf Tournament will be sponsored by J.C.’s Trailer Sales and Used Appliances, Big K Propane, and Family Pharmacy.

The Hinson Lake Disc Golf Tournament will be held April 27 with two rounds of disc golf. The first round will begin at 9 a.m. and will be captain’s choice with teams of three. The singles round will start at 11 a.m.

Entry into the tournament is $25 per person or $60 per team and will get players into both rounds with the choice to play in one or both.

All proceeds from the tournament will go back into course maintenance including upgrading the tee boxes from sand to concrete as well as adding benches.

To sign up, visit eventbrite.com or go to the event page on Facebook.

There will be more information about the RO Sports Network and the Hinson Lake Disc Golf Tournament on “LIVE at 5” and “The RO Sports Show” later this week.
