ROCKINGHAM – Anyone seeking adventure can see a whole new side of Richmond County with the newest event from the Richmond Young Professionals.

On Thursday, September 28, the Richmond Young Professionals will host their inaugural Chamber Chase event.  Inspired by the adventure of the “Amazing Race” and the challenge of scavenger hunts, Chamber Chase is a unique team challenge all of its own.

In conjunction with over a dozen local business, all of which are members of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Chase event will take participants on an adventure across the county like never experienced before.

Teams of up to four people will compete head-to-head as they race to as many participating businesses as they can to complete challenges, answer questions, and win points for their team.

Along the way, teams will also have the opportunity earn points by taking a pit stop at some of Richmond County’s historical sites, where they will answer trivia questions and collect tokens.

But that’s not all, teams may be tempted to stray from the course to complete bonus tasks or search for golden bonus boxes that may give them a leg up on the competition.

The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., with check-in and day of registration beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Setting the tone for this Chase is the event’s starting location.  Steve Earwood, owner of Rockingham Dragway has graciously allowed the organization to utilize the dragway as the race kick-off location.  The Young Professionals are therefore excited to announce that participants’ first event of the Chase will be to drive down the strip before embarking on their trip around the county.

After the green flag waves, participants will have two hours to complete as many tasks and earn as many points for their team as possible.  All teams will then reconvene at the event finish line in the parking lot of Hudson Brother’s Deli.  It is here that teams will be able to mix and mingle, sharing the stories of their adventure with one another as officials tally the scores and determine the event winners.

There will be plenty of prizes, as the first-place team will take home the grand prize of $50 per person, while the second-place team will score a prize pack of Richmond County Chamber gear.  All participants will also be entered into drawings for each of three gift baskets.  Plus, every participant will walk away with a gift bag full of RYP memorabilia and items from our event sponsors.

Registration for this event is now open and will be available until the event begins.  The registration fee is only $20 per team of up to four people, and is open to individuals of all ages.  However, all teams must have their own vehicle and at least one licensed driver.

To register for the event, head to the official Chamber Chase event page on Facebook, or look for the event posts in the Richmond Young Professional group.  Registration forms can be downloaded from either location, and can be submitted in person to the Chamber of Commerce office, to any RYP member, or on location the day of the event.  Participants may also register by phone by calling Seth Allen at the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce, or online by emailing forms to rcochamberchase@gmail.com.
