ROCKINGHAM – Following a hiatus during the summer season, the members of the Richmond Young Professionals are excitedly formulating the details of their event line-up for autumn.  The organization, which is aimed at providing networking, socializing, and volunteering opportunities to local 20 to 40-somethings, is back and ready to get involved in the community once again.

“I’m looking forward to kicking off the fall with our young professionals group,” shared Seth Allen, co-president of the organization.  “It’s been a few months since our last event and I am excited to start off the upcoming season with a new set of opportunities for our local young professionals.”

The organization will start off this new season of events by striving to forge relationships with the area’s first-year teachers.

The organization will host them for a casual dinner at Hudson Brothers’ Deli on Friday, August 17th at 6:00 p.m.  RYP hopes that this event, sponsored by area principals, will help make this new group of young professionals feel welcomed, and maybe even garner them a few more players for their annual kickball showdown against Scotland County’s Young Professional Network, set to take place in early September.

Also scheduled for the month of September is another edition of the organization’s signature Pub Trivia nights.  Planned in conjunction with Stephanie Thornsbury of the Hamlet Train Depot and Museums, this event is the perfect combination of intelligence, humor, and philanthropy.  As always, this event will double as a small fundraiser for a local non-profit organization and is open to everyone 21 years of age or older.

When the month of October rolls around, RYP will take on a more serious tone as they shift their focus to the upcoming November elections.  On Tuesday, October 9th the informed organization will host their second “Pints and Politics” event at the VFW in Rockingham.  Doors for this event are set to open at 6:00 p.m., with the formal program beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Admission will be by donation with all proceeds going directly to the Rockingham VFW.  Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.  A list of attending officials and candidates will be released at a later date.

The Young Professionals will then round out their festivities for the year with their second “Chamber Chase” event set for November 2nd, and a “give back” campaign scheduled throughout the month of December.
