ROCKINGHAM – The monthly meeting of the Rockingham Downtown Corporation was held Tuesday, September 19 at noon, with 10 members in attendance. The meeting was opened by Susan Kelly and the invocation was given by J.A. Bolton.

The purpose of RDC’s monthly meetings is to promote business, foot traffic and events in downtown Rockingham. The corporation encourages anyone interested in the betterment of these elements attend the meetings and join in RDC’s mission.

This month, the group discussed an upcoming event called “Affair on the Square,” which is set for Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. The downtown Rockingham event is set to begin at 4 p.m., and is aimed at getting local folks downtown to enjoy a night out. It will feature the Dark Horse Band, eating at local restaurants and visiting the many vendors stationed along Main Street. For more information on becoming a vendor at the event, or questions regarding the evening’s lineup, please contact Sharon Nichols at sharon@silvercrossevents.com.

Also discussed during the September meeting was the second V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4203 Veterans Day parade.  Last year’s parade was a great success, but this year the organizers hope to top 2016 with more floats and participants.

This parade will celebrate and honor the courageous service and sacrifice of the men and women veterans that have served our country.
