Rockingham Downtown Corporation Ushers in Holidays with 21st Annual Christmas on the Square

ROCKINGHAM – Downtown Rockingham will be buzzing with well over 100 vendors on Saturday, December 2 as the 21st annual Christmas on the Square event is set to be held.

The event, hosted by the Downtown Rockingham Corporation, will begin at 10 a.m. and run to 4 p.m. and will offer a lot of fun and entertainment for the entire family.

There will be a variety of vendors set up, which includes crafters, food vendors, local businesses, and more. Entertainment is also provided throughout the day, some of which includes school and church groups, local artists, as well as free rides and activities for children.

The Lion’s Club “vision van” will be on site to give free vision checks, and the Rockingham Police Department will be offering fingerprinting for children free of charge.

Scheduled entertainment includes Santa music (10 to 10:30 a.m.), LJ Bell School Chorus (10:30 to 11 a.m.), Bold Moves Dance Studio (11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.), East Rockingham Elementary School (12:30 to 1 p.m.), Ally Roberts (1:30 to 2 p.m.), Richmond Senior High School Marching Band (2 to 2:30 p.m.), Mt. Sini Baptist Church (2:30-3 p.m.), Donavan Steele (3 to 3:30 p.m.), with the possibility of more signing-up to perform.

“We will continue to take only craft vendors through November 24,” Rockingham Downtown Corporation Chairperson Carolyn Ford stated.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Rockingham Downtown Corporation, the City of Rockingham, and the Richmond County Tourism Authority. Along with Ford is Judy Cagle and Vickie Mullis helping to make the event a success.

Toys for Tots will be collecting items for children in need throughout the day.

Last but not least, will be what all children anticipate throughout the year, Santa Clause. Santa will be on the square all day with gifts for children.
