Rockingham motorcyclist killed in South Carolina wreck

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — A driver has been charged following a crash that killed a motorcyclist Wednesday morning in Horry County, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened around 9:15 a.m. on U.S. 501 near Enoch Road.

A Toyota Corolla turning from Enoch Road pulled in front of a Honda three-wheel motorcycle, Collins said. He added the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the motorcyclist as 65-year-old Bruce Allen Jr. from Rockingham, North Carolina. Fowler said Allen died at the scene from his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

According to Collins, the driver has been charged with failure to yield the right-of-way.
