Rockingham Police charge man with murder

ROCKINGHAM — A man was booked into the Richmond County Jail on Friday for murder, but no details have been released in the case.

The Rockingham Police Department has charged 28-year-old Gerald Shawnrhea Bloomfield with first-degree murder, according to online jail records.

Records show Bloomfield was booked at 1:04 p.m. and he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.


Police officials could not be reached Friday afternoon and a press release had not been sent out as of 8:30 p.m.

Bloomfield has no other pending charges previous convictions in the state, according to online records with the N.C. Court System and Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
