Rockingham Police Department Search Warrant Nets Convicted Felon

ROCKINGHAM – On Monday, July 30, the Rockingham Police Department executed a search warrant at 204 South Grove Ave.

Tyrone Lamont Covington, 30 years of age, resides at that address and was the target of the warrant. 

The RPD had purchased approximately 4 grams of crack/cocaine over several weeks and multiple buys from the subject using a confidential informant.

These occurred between July 17 and July 23. 

The SWAT team made entry into the home via a door breach; no flash bangs were necessary.

The subject was taken into custody without incident and charged with:

·        Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine (4 counts);

·        Selling cocaine (3 counts);

·        Maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing or selling a controlled substance (4 counts); and

·        Possession of drug paraphernalia (1 count).

Mr. Covington is a convicted felon and was placed in the Richmond County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.

All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
