Rockingham Police Nab “Road Rage” Suspect, Check Forger in Recent Activity

ROCKINGHAM – The Rockingham Police Department recently announced the arrests of suspects in two separate incidents.

The RPD reports that, on Thursday, April 5, Rockingham police officers responded to the US Hwy 1 South area in reference to a “road rage” call.  The caller advised law enforcement that the suspect was attempting to run him off the road and displayed a firearm. 

According to the RPD report, “Officers located the vehicle in question and attempted to stop said vehicle (burgundy Nissan).   Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance which eventually came to a halt in the middle of the street on Hood Street after striking a mail box, white vinyl fence, and (2) parked vehicles.  The driver of said vehicle fled on foot and (2) passengers remained in the vehicle, the driver that fled was eventually apprehended by officers.” 

The Rockingham Police Department was assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in relation to this incident.

Domique Dontae Everett, 24, of 214 Boone Street in Rockingham was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing, storing, or delivery of marijuana; resisting, delaying, and/or obstructing the duties of a public officer; felonious larceny of a motor vehicle; felonious flight to elude arrest; two counts of injury to real property; two counts of injury to personal property; wreckless driving to the endangerment of the public; driving while license revoked; violation of limited driving privileges; misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia; and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.  

The suspect was also wanted out of Durham County for sale and delivery of marijuana; possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; felonious violation of conditions of probation; failure to appear in Wake County for misdemeanor larceny; and misdemeanor larceny from Rockingham WalMart in 2016.

Everett was processed into the Richmond County Jail under a secured bond of $251,000.

An earlier arrest was made on Monday, April 16.  RPD arrested Stephen Patrick Culler, 52, of Hamlet and charged him with obtaining property by false pretenses, identity theft, forgery of an instrument (all felonies) as well as misdemeanor larceny. 

According to RPD, this incident stemmed from the larceny of a check from a residence in Hamlet.  The check was eventually made out and endorsed fraudulently before being cashed at the Fidelity Bank at 632 E. Broad Avenue, Rockingham. 

Culler was processed into the Richmond County Jail under an unsecured bond of $22,500. 

All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
