ROCKINGHAM — An individual died after being hit by a train late Tuesday morning.
The Rockingham Police Department confirmed Tuesday afternoon that an individual was struck by a train and is now deceased. The investigation is continuing.
According to the Rockingham Fire Department, the incident occurred behind the Taco Factory between 10:30 and 11 a.m.
No other details were given. More information is expected to be made available on Wednesday.
Last year, 18 people were killed, and 13 others injured, while trespassing on North Carolina railroad tracks, the North Carolina Department of Transportation reported in April.
