ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Board of Education will have two new faces in the next term.
Newcomers Cory Satterfield and Scotty Baldwin were two of the top-four votegetters in Tuesday’s election.
Incumbents Daryl Mason and Bobbie Sue Ormsby were also reelected, while sitting board member Joe Richardson was defeated.
The fourth seat was occupied by late board member Pat Campbell, who did not run for reelection and passed away earlier this year.
The four winners were foreshadowed by early voting and absentee results, with Mason and Ormsby each bringing in more than 15% of the vote. Satterfield wasn’t far behind with 14.6% and Baldwin had 13.11%.
Baldwin beat out Bess York Shuler for the fourth seat by 66 votes, according to unofficial results from the Richmond County Board of Elections.
Ormsby took the top spot with 15.5% of the vote, followed by Satterfield with 15.2% and Mason with 14.4%.
Of those who didn’t make it: Shuler had 13.7%; Richardson had 12.8%; Jeremy McKenize had 9.6%; and Eddie Rainwater received 4.5%.
All election results are unofficial until canvassing on May 27.
