LAURINBURG — Since Dec. 15, 2020, our Scotland Health team has successfully administered over 10,000 Moderna vaccinations to our staff and throughout our local communities.
The governor’s plan for the state of North Carolina is to open eligibility to everyone on April 7. Over the last two months Scotland Health’s supply of vaccine appointments has been greater than the demand for vaccinations. In order to quickly vaccinate the largest number of people in our community, we have decided to move forward and offer vaccinations to anyone over the age of 18.
Appointments are required and can be made by calling 910-291-7654 Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Scotland Health currently holds drive-thru vaccination clinics twice a week on the Scotland Memorial campus. Pop-up clinics are regularly taking place in outlying communities in Marlboro County in South Carolina and Robeson County in North Carolina. The pop-up clinic dates, times and locations can be found on the Scotland Health Facebook page and on the website.
According to the NCDHHS website as of March 29, Scotland County has over 8,000 (24.9%) people at least partially vaccinated with 5,000 (14.8%) of that number being fully vaccinated.
Greg Wood, President and CEO of Scotland Health stated, “Our goal is to vaccinate as many people who want the COVID vaccine as conveniently and efficiently as possible. We would like the percentages of fully vaccinated people to double within the next two months. Data proves the positive rates and the number of hospitalizations state-wide are significantly down. We continue to encourage our staff and community members to be vaccinated so that another surge does not occur, and we can continue opening up and returning to normal activities.”
