ROCKINGHAM – The Christmas spirit is already filling the air of Richmond County, as two local businesses held open houses.

On Monday evening,  Richmond Plaza had two great events. as Christie’s Home, Garden, and Gifts was hosting a Christmas Open House along with Our Southern Roots.

If one had never stepped foot into these stores, the Christmas Open House was the perfect time. Both stores had snacks and refreshments to welcome guests, as well as exquisite holiday decorations.

Our Southern Roots had great sales throughout the store ranging from 20 to 75 percent off. It will continue to have different sales throughout the store until Wednesday at 8 p.m..

Christie’s was also having wonderful deals and had so many unique Christmas and holiday decorations to choose from.

When talking to Christie Padgett herself, she said that she loves to have local artists such as Emily Catherine Photography and Shawn Weigman Designs in her store. In fact, she even has candles from artisans in Raeford, hand-woven baskets from another local artist, and Duplin products from Rose Hill.

Padgett is keeping decorating interesting and original for her customers.

“If you see something in the store that you like, then you definitely need to snatch it up,” Padgette said. “I like to have a variety of unique decorations in here so that what one person buys to decorate their home isn’t the same thing another person buys.”

Christie’s Home, Garden, and Gifts has another event coming up. Next Monday, November 13, it will be having a “Special Design Series.” Customers who come in and sign up with a $20 fee will be taught how to create an elaborate decorative bow as well as beautiful garland and will leave with their own creation. They have six to nine slots open for this event and would love to listen to customer requests for later events of this sort.

Also, remember to keep them in mind when going Black Friday shopping. Christie’s will be open early with some warm refreshments waiting for those who enter. Also, the first 75 customers who spend $50 dollars or more will receive a specially designed ornament by Shawn Weigman.

The holiday season is fast approaching, and the RO encourages shoppers to visit local boutiques and shops to do some shopping for friends and family.
