SHERIFF: ‘No officer-involved shooting’

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Sheriff James Clemmons is clearing the air in response to a Thursday evening fatality.

Clemmons stresses that the incident in the Little Philadelphia community was not an officer-involved shooting, adding no deputies discharged any weapon, in response to social media reports since the death occurred.

The case is still under investigation with assistance from the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.

More information on the investigation is expected to be released later today.
