ROCKINGHAM – Sheriff James Clemmons reports the arrest of Terry Levon Watkins, 39, of Crescent Drive in Rockingham for a total of seven charges.
On Monday, June 25th, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident on Pauline Drive in Rockingham. The caller reported that an elderly woman had been assaulted and robbed.
Deputies immediately responded and found the victim with injuries to her face. The victim reported that a man came to her residence and asked to come inside. Upon entry, the victim was grabbed and told to give the man her money. The victim’s purse was seized and the man fled.
The victim was transported to the hospital where she received treatment for her injuries and was released.
Sheriff’s deputies located Watkins later that evening. He was arrested and charged with:
Common-law robbery; second degree kidnapping; assault by strangulation; and assault on a female. Subsequent charges were filed for second degree trespassing; communicating threats; and injury to real property, all from previous warrants.
Watkins was processed into the Richmond County Detention Center under a secured bond of $101,000.
