Spartan Passage provides co-admission at RichmondCC, UNCG

HAMLET — Richmond Community College has signed on to a unique co-admissions program with the University of North Carolina-Greensboro to help RichmondCC students move seamlessly into bachelor degree programs.

The Spartan Passage allows RichmondCC students to choose to be admitted to both institutions at the same time. After two years at RichmondCC and upon completion of a university transfer degree, Spartan Passage students will then finish college in Greensboro. The new program provides a pathway for RichmondCC students to access more than 50 bachelor degree programs, as well as five master degree programs.

RichmondCC students who take part in the Spartan Passage won’t pay a fee to apply to UNCG. Also, they will also have access to UNCG facilities, including the library and the student recreation center, and they’ll be able to attend on-campus UNCG events and join most student organizations. UNCG will also provide academic advising, scholarship opportunities and coordinated federal and financial aid disbursement.

The Spartan Passage will help more students get four-year degrees because it will make it easier to move from Richmond Community College to UNCG,” said Patsy Stanley, director of Career & Transfer Services at RichmondCC. “It’s also more affordable for students to pay two years of RichmondCC tuition and fees, which will save them thousands of dollars in tuition at the university level.”

To be eligible for the Spartan Passage, students must first be admitted in RichmondCC. Once enrolled, students will meet with Stanley in the Career & Transfer Center to complete an online interest form for the Spartan Passage.

RichmondCC applications can be completed online at www.richmondcc.edu/admissions. There is no cost to apply to RichmondCC. For more information, call 910-410-1730. The College is now registering students for both summer classes. Registration for fall semester opens April 15.
