ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County fast-food manager proved he really earns his dough after winning a corporate competition last week.

Kris Spivey, assistant unit manager at the Rockingham Bojangles’, was named Master Biscuit Maker Champion during a contest against other company managers, according to a press release.

Each year, Bojangles’ invites its “very best biscuit makers” to its Restaurant Support Center in Charlotte for the Master Biscuit Maker Competition.

According to the release:

“As part of the competition, all finalists first take an exam on Bojangles’ proprietary biscuit-making process. Then, finalists must prepare a batch of biscuits that adhere to the company’s signature 48-step process, while Bojangles’ employees cheer them on from a viewing area. Judges from Bojangles’ critique biscuits on factors such as taste, appearance and biscuit dimension.”

Spivey kneaded out the competition comprising about 10 other managers from all over the Southeast, a corporate spokesman said Friday.

Bojangles’, founded in the Queen City in 1977, serves biscuits and fried chicken at more than 750 restaurants in 11 states.
