Sports Cycles to Host its First “Connections After Five” Event

ROCKINGHAM – One of the many benefits that the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce is able to provide to its members is the opportunity to network and form connections with dozens of fellow local business owners.

But with the never-ending list of tasks accumulating on each business owner’s to-do list, the potential for such connections to form within the parameters of a standard business day are slim to none.

For such reasons, the Chamber of Commerce has established its noteworthy “After Hours” event series.  Hosted once on a month, these events provide busy business owners the opportunity to form connections with others and expand their business network in a laid back, relaxed setting.

The events themselves have proven to be beneficial to all involved, but over time, the staff began to think that it was time for a facelift so to speak.  So, after much deliberation, in 2017, the Chamber effectively re-launched the event series under the name, “Connections After Five,” and it has been success ever since.

Now, with 2018 underway, the Chamber staff is excited to continue their Connections series for another year, and feature even more first-time hosts than ever before.

First up on this year’s line-up:  Sports Cycles.

Located on Highway 74 in Rockingham, Sports Cycles is the area’s largest motorcycle, ATV and side-by-side dealer.  Specializing in the sale of new and used power sports equipment, Sports Cycles also proudly offers both parts and service.

Successfully being in business for over 40 years, Sports Cycles has proudly been a part of the Richmond County Chamber for more than the past decade.  However, in all of those years they have never before served as a host for an “After Hours” or “Connections After 5” event.

But there is no denying that the Sports Cycles staff are looking forward to changing that Thursday evening as they host their inaugural Connections event at their facility from 6 to 8 p.m.

“We’re a specialty shop, not everyone is into the power sports hobby, so we often don’t see people if they’re not our customers,” explained Jody Williams.

“We feel like it’s good for the community to bring folks into the business here and be able to see a different side of what we do,” he continued. “We just want to open our doors to the community, network a little bit, and share the products and services that we have to offer.”

As is typical of a Connections event, Thursday’s gathering will be a casual, drop in style affair.  The evening will feature light presentations and facility tours by Sports Cycles’ staff, and a few lucky winners will even walk away with a special door prize.  Plus, attendees are encouraged to bring their appetite as there will be delicious, catered hors d’oeuvres.

This Connections After Five event is open to current and prospective members and employees of Richmond County Chamber of Commerce businesses.  If you are interested in attending this event, you are encouraged to RSVP to the official event page on Facebook, or by calling the Chamber at (910) 895 – 9058.
