ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County has surpassed 200 positive COVID-19 cases.

On Saturday, the Richmond County Health Department reported nine new cases for a total of 206.

While the Health Department did not release new statistics on Sunday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 Dashboard county map showed a total of 209. The state also showed that neighboring Montgomery County has also broken 200 with 204.

As of Saturday, there were 57 active cases, with two patients hospitalized and the remaining 55 under home isolation, according to the Health Department. Of the Richmond County residents who have been tested, 1,590 have been negative.

Only one new person was considered to have recovered on Saturday from the previous day.

June 12 marked the highest daily total of both new cases reported and patients tested statewide, according to DHHS.

North Carolina has now had 44,119 lab-confirmed cases, with 1,109 COVID-related deaths — including five in Richmond County, the most recent being reported Thursday, June 11. The state reports that 798 are hospitalized, which was a drop from 823 the previous day.

BY THE NUMBERS

The number of cases per age group are as follows:

  • 0-18 – 22
  • 19-30 – 33
  • 31-40 – 26
  • 41-50 – 39
  • 50-64 – 55
  • 65-older – 31

The total numbers (including recoveries) for surrounding counties are as follows:

  • Mecklenburg – 7,131
  • Union – 717
  • Anson – 86
  • Stanly – 163
  • Moore – 306
  • Hoke – 296
  • Scotland – 107
  • Robeson – 1056

All numbers except Moore and Robeson counties are from DHHS, which are from their respective health departments, as there is a significant discrepancy with the state.

The state’s number for Moore County was actually higher (317) that what the county reported. The Robeson County Health Department has not updated its numbers since Friday, but the state still lists it at 966.

That makes Robeson the sixth county to break 1,000 cases. The others are Mecklenburg, Wake, Durham, Guilford, Forsyth, Wayne and Duplin.
