Trooper: 2 injured in morning wreck near Ellerbe

ELLERBE — Green Lake Road was temporarily closed Friday morning after a two-vehicle wreck that sent both drivers to area hospitals.

The driver of a pickup truck was travelling on Bear Branch Road and ran the stop sign at the intersection with Green Lake Road, t-boning a northbound Chevy Tahoe on the front passenger side, according to Trooper R.L. Howze with the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

The Tahoe was spun around and flipped on to the same side it was struck, hitting a fire hydrant.

Ellerbe Rescue, the Northside Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS all arrived on the scene.

Howze said the driver of the pickup was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst and the driver of the Tahoe was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond in Rockingham. 

The trooper said both drivers appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

The names of those involved were not readily available.
