Two Men Arrested on Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon Charges Following Holdup at Cordova Convenience Store

ROCKINGHAM – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrests of two persons in relation to an armed robbery in the Cordova area.

Felony robbery with a dangerous weapon charges were filed against Davion Marquis Ward, 21, of Trent Street in Rockingham, and Quandon Ha’son Wilson, 25, of Wheat Street in Rockingham and they were processed into the Richmond County Jail.

Upon receiving an alarm call from a local convenience store in the Cordova community on Tuesday, January 9, deputies responded and confirmed that a robbery had in fact occurred.

It was reported that the suspects had disclosed a gun at Duncan’s Food Store and took cash from the register before fleeing the scene.

Subsequent to receiving descriptions of the suspects, a Rockingham police officer observed a vehicle traveling away from the area at a high rate of speed on the Old Cheraw Highway and gave chase, stopping the vehicle on Spring Street in Rockingham.

However, it was determined that the vehicle was actually being operated by a witness to the robbery who was attempting to locate the suspects. 

Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, and got accurate descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle from the witness. According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies subsequently arrested both men in short order at a residence.

A further felony charge was filed against Wilson for assault on a government official. He was also cited for resisting arrest, communicating threats, assault by pointing a gun, and injury to personal property, all of which are misdemeanors.

Ward received a $100,000 secured bond and Wilson received a $175,500 secured bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court on January 18.
