HAMLET — Richmond County residents are encouraged to visit the Seaboard City tomorrow for Food Truck Friday on Main.

Two local vendors, Seafoodie and Mama Blair’s, will be at the Hamlet Depot and Museum parking lot from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday serving up lunch and dinner.

Hamlet City Manager Matthew Christian said he was a little worried about the weather, but it appears the rains from the remnants of Hurricane Sally will be moved out by an approaching cold front.

Christian said the event had been discussed internally between city staffers and they thought it would be a “great opportunity” to support Seafoodie, which has seen recent success around Richmond County — including securing a stationary location — and “give people a reason to enjoy downtown.”

“If it goes well, we’ll do it again,” he said, adding that there have been discussions of making it a weekly or bi-weekly event once the COVID-19 pandemic ends. “We’re doing one, we’ll see how it goes.”

Those who come out are asked to follow safety guidelines, including social distancing.
