ROCKINGHAM — Seventeen agencies received nearly $40,000 from the United Way of Richmond County last week.
All but two of the groups had representatives at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond for the third quarter meeting on Thursday, where they were given a combined $39,500, according to UWRC Executive Director Michelle Parrish.
Earlier in the month, UWRC kicked off its 10th annual “Day of Caring,” with volunteers helping with 10 projects across the county.
Those projects were at Samaritan Colony, Sandhills Children’s Center, the Exceptional Children’s Department of Monroe Avenue Elementary, the East Rockingham and Ellerbe Senior Centers, BackPack Pals, and Our Daily Bread, which are some of the United Way’s partnering agencies.
“Thank you ALL for what you do for our community!” Parrish said.
There will be a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rockingham Dairy Queen where the restaurant will give 10 percent of its proceeds from the four-hour period to the United Way.
