Pack the Van with a Fan

Although summer is officially over, there are still warm days ahead.

Carolina Hearts Home Care and Richmond County Aging Services are teaming up to help provide new box fans to area seniors.

Fans can be dropped off at Carolina Hearts Home Care, 526 E. Broad Avenue, Rockingham, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

Individuals can also donate fans or money to purchase fans at the Aging Services office, 225 S. Lawrence St., Rockingham, or call 910-997-4491.

 

Dog Wash

Richmond County Animal Advocates will be holding a dog wash Sunday starting at 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply in Rockingham.

The group funds a low-cost spay and neuter program for county animals and helps provides pet food for families in need.

A wash is generally held the last Sunday of each month.

Volleyball Tournament

The Pee Dee Pregnancy Resource Center is hosting its inaugural Volleyball and Cornhole Tournament Saturday, Sept. 28 to celebrate 20 years of service to the community.

The games start at 8:30 a.m. at Roberdel Baptist Church.

There will also be a food and bake sale fundraiser, with breakfast beginning at 8 a.m.

The cost to enter a team for the cornhole tournament is $30.

All proceeds will benefit the center.

Class Reunion

The Richmond Senior High School Class of 1984 35th Class Reunion will take place the weekend of Oct. 25-26.

Cost is $30 per person before Sept. 15, $40 per person after Sept. 15 and $50 per person at the door. Payment requested as soon as possible in order to confirm plans with the caterer. 

The class kicks the weekend off on Oct. 25 at Richmond Senior High for the homecoming football game against Lumberton. Following the game, members will gather at The Ballroom in Hamlet. 

On Oct. 26 they will meet at the Moose Lodge in Rockingham from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. to continue celebrating. 

T-shirts are also available to purchase at $8 for S-XL, $10 for 2X and $12 for 3X-5X.

Church Meal

East Rockingham United Methodist Church will be hosting its annual 3 S meal — featuring soup, salad and a sandwich — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.

Plates are $8 each and delivery is available for orders of five or more plates.

Library Fundraiser

The Friends of Leath Library invite members of the public to “come paint with us.”

The painting night fundraiser will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the library.

Pre-registration is required and the cost to participate is $40, with proceeds going to the library.
