Vehicles have accident on US Highway 1 South bridge

ROCKINGHAM – Emergency crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on the Highway 1 South bridge around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The driver of a gray Toyota sedan stated that another vehicle swerved in front of him, causing him to brake quickly, which in turn caused a Chevrolet SUV to collided with his vehicle. 

The three occupants in the Toyota were attended to by EMS at the scene and were not transported to the hospital.

The other driver needed no medical attention. 

Units responding: Cordova Fire & Rescue; First Health Richmond EMS; Richmond County Sheriff’s Office; and the North Carolina Highway Patrol. 

The accident was investigated by the Highway Patrol.
