ROCKINGHAM — Businesses wanting to set up street-side for the city’s semi-annual sidewalk festival have a few more weeks to sign up.

The Rockingham Downtown Corporation is asking merchants and vendors who want to be a part of next month’s Affair on the Square to sign up by May 5.

There is no entry fee, however, organizers need to know how many vendors are planning to set up shop so they can assign spaces and whether or not electricity is needed, as not all spaces are equipped. No tables, chairs or tents are provided.

The event allows one vendor per category or company, “so the first to email and register attendance gets the spot,” according to Sharon Nichols with RDC.

Potential vendors should send their name, business name, email, cell phone number and a description of what they make and sell to Nichols. She can be reached by calling 910-331-9965 or emailing sharon@SilverCrossEvents.com.

Affair on the Square — held in May and October — often features a variety of food and craft vendors along East Washington Street and a few down Hancock Street. In addition, downtown businesses extend their hours and the three restaurants offer specials.

The event generally also features a DJ along the route and live music in Harrington Square.

This year’s spring festival is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
