ROCKINGHAM — A Charlotte woman is accused of using other people’s personal information to get a cellphone account.

According to warrants, 27-year-old Jasmine Thomas tried to obtain a cellphone account from Walmart between June 18 and 19 using a false North Carolina driver’s license.

She allegedly used the driver’s license number of a man from Charlotte and the name and date of birth of a woman from Farmville.

Thomas was arrested July 15 and charged with two counts of identity theft and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses.

She was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 22.

Online court records show she has an Aug. 1 appearance on charges of aiding and abetting felony larceny and conspiracy to commit felony larceny in Mecklenburg County; as well an Aug. 12 appearance for traffic citations of reckless driving to endanger, speeding and driving with a revoked license in Anson County.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Show Thomas was convicted twice in late 2018 and was placed on probation for both cases.

Thomas received a 12-month suspended sentence in Cabarrus County when convicted Dec. 19 of misdemeanor larceny.

Six days earlier, she was convicted of two counts of felony larceny and one count of misdemeanor breaking and entering in Mecklenburg County.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
