There are several fundraisers around Richmond County this weekend.

Kountry Kitchen on Airport Road will be hosting a food sale Saturday to help Debbie Ammons to cover medical expenses.

Plates of chopped barbecue or barbecued chicken — with beans, slaw and hushpuppies — will be sold for $10 from 11 a.m. until sold out.

That fundraiser will also include a car, truck and side-by-side show.

Richmond County Cancer Care Treasure Shop in Rockingham will be hosting its third annual Walk for Hope from the store to Walmart and back, starting at 9 a.m. The store is also promoting a concert at Cole Auditorium in early November.

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Berry Patch in Ellerbe is once again serving up its pink vanilla ice cream.

Each year, owners Lee and Amy Berry pick a local or regional recipient of the fundraiser. This year, proceeds will be going to help Maxie Coburn, a teacher who worked at the Berry Patch at one time.

The Sycamore Lodge in Derby reopens its Haunted Forest on Saturday, with proceeds going toward the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The event is held annually on the last three Saturdays of October, drawing thousands to the small community in northeastern Richmond County. This year’s forest will feature 12 attractions.

Last year, the Sycamore Lodge was able to raise more than $30,000 and more than $25,000 the previous year.
