ELLERBE — A woman was airlifted following a wreck late Thursday morning.

Multiple agencies responded to the single-vehicle wreck on N.C. 73, west of Ellerbe near Bennett Road, around 10:45 a.m., according to a post from the Ellerbe Rescue Squad.

Trooper A. Oxendine with the N.C. State Highway Patrol said Jena Bottomleywise, of AFJ Ranch Road, was driving a Honda passenger car when she ran off the road to the right and hit a tree.

Ellerbe Rescue issued a Facebook post warning drivers to use caution when passing through the area, between Wallace and Bennett roads.

The trooper said Bottomleywise had no broken bones, but was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte to be checked out because she had trouble remembering what happened.

The Mountain Creek Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS also responded.
