Woman charged with attempted murder in robbery near Hoffman

HOFFMAN — A woman is facing two felony charges after allegedly robbing and shooting a man late last week.

According to court documents, 24-year-old Jordyn Layne Coble, of Fairway Drive, Rockingham, threatened a 30-year-old man — of Hatcher Road, Rockingham — with a revolver and robbed him of a cellphone and $50.

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 on Beaverdam Church Road, according to documents.

Coble is also accused of shooting the victim in the side. There is no word on the victim’s condition.

She was arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail around 10:52 that night.

Coble is charged with one count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted first-degree murder and is being held on a $100,000 secured bond.

She is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 23.

Online court records show Coble has a Jan. 28 court appearance for speeding.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show she has no prior convictions in this state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
