Putting her schoolwork first, Webb has excelled in the classroom during her high school career. She is one of the many students at Richmond who has benefitted from participating in the dual-enrollment program with Richmond Community College.

A straight-A student with a 4.3 weighted GPA, Webb is over halfway through her first semester of her junior year. This semester she’s taking three courses at the college and two classes at Richmond.

At RichmondCC, Webb is enrolled in Elementary American Sign Language 111, General Psychology 150 and Precalculus 171. When on Richmond’s campus, she’s taking AP U.S. Government and Politics and Health Science II Honors.

Webb is also a member of the National Beta Club and Health Occupations Students of America. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field.

“My favorite class this semester is psychology,” Webb said. “It’s really interesting to learn about the mind and see how other people think and feel inside. I really like the teacher, Dr. (Amy) Williams, because she tries to make it interesting and connects it to the real world.

“Attending RCC has really helped set me up for the future,” she added. “It’s allowed me to get some of my college classes out of the way. I really like how college classes are structured; everything is due is at the end of the week.”

“NEW RECORD” WITH ALIVIA WEBB

The Lady Raider swim team opened its season last week at the James A. Leach Aquatic Center and competed to a fifth-place finish.

Webb, one of the few returners this season, swam in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay. She recorded points in both events and set a personal record in the open 50.

Placing ninth overall in the 50-yard freestyle, Webb swam the complete lap in the pool in 35.38 seconds. That time was 1.56 seconds faster than her previous best time of 36.94 seconds, which she set as a sophomore.

That earned her four points, which she helped add to with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Also participating in the relay were teammates Nelly Cadena, Presley Dawkins and Hadley Garner.

The Lady Raiders clocked in at 2:33.41 in that event. Webb swam the second leg and posted the fastest solo time of Richmond’s swimmers with a lap of 31.79 seconds. The relay race secured the team 22 points.
