The Lady Raider soccer team started its first week of the season 3-0, collecting a trio of wins against non-conference opponents. Taking advantage of her scoring potential early, Rodgers led the team with four goals.

“FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET” WITH ALLIE RODGERS

The Lady Raiders opened the season last Monday on the road at Montgomery Central, which saw Rodgers net her first goal of the year. One of four goal scorers, Rodgers helped the team to a 4-2 win.

Making it 2-0 in the 25th minute, Rodgers collected possession of the ball along the right sideline and blasted a shot from 20 yards high and under the crossbar.

Richmond followed that win with a 4-2 victory over Cape Fear on Wednesday, as Rodgers was again one of four Lady Raiders to find the net.

Starting the second half with a goal in the 45th minute to make it 3-1, Rodgers used an assist from sophomore teammate Hanna Smith. A cross from Smith saw Rodgers redirect the ball into the upper left corner of the goal.

Her best outing of the week was part of the team’s second shutout in three games, a 7-0 win over South View on Saturday. Rodgers scored one goal in each half and was credited with her first assist of the season.

With four goals in three games this spring, Rodgers is one pace to surpass her six total goals she scored in 23 appearances as a sophomore.

Richmond (3-0) will start a three-game homestand this week on Monday against non-conference Lumberton High School. Varsity will start at 7 p.m.
